diversity and human rights

Electing/appointing diverse decision makers is a reflection of the people who live in the city, and serves every  citizen's interests.  It's about making the entire city more representative and inclusive.  Restoring the Human Rights commission and Transit committee.  These entities will work in partnership with the council to support the city's goals of implementing proactive human rights initiatives and promoting transportation solutions.

  • Research and assess the elimination of the Human Rights commission and Transit committee with a goal to reinstate them

  • Create a BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Color) task force charged with advising the council on the vision of a potential newly established Human Rights commission

  • Increase community engagement in human rights in the areas of employment, housing, and whistle blower protection

  • Implement a Rapid Transit system which will reduce traffic bottlenecks while helping the environment with emissions issues
